The Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research (QCMHR) is a Queensland Health funded research unit based at The Park Centre for Mental Health Treatment, Research and Education, in the Darling Downs/West Moreton Health District, Brisbane, Australia. We report to the Mental Health Directorate, Queensland Health, and are formally affiliated with The University of Queensland .  Our Genetics and Developmental Neurobiology laboratory research groups are located at the Queensland Brain Institute, St. Lucia Campus, The University of Queensland.

Our purpose is to reduce the disability associated with serious and persistent mental illness (SMPI) through research which guides policy and planning for more effective services, translates research in to practice to produce better clinical outcomes, and investigates genetic and environmental risk factors to facilitate prevention and new interventions for these disorders.
